The Hōjō House is the house of the Hōjō Family in the outskirts of Hinamizawa. The house was originally the home of the Hōjōs, but after the Watanagashi of 1983, the inhabitants moved out and the house is left unoccupied, maintained by Satoko.

The building's original inhabitants were Hōjō Satoko, Hōjō Satoshi, their mother and their stepfather. After the parents' deaths in the Watanagashi of 1980, the orphaned kids were placed under Hōjō Teppei's and Hōjō Tamae's care, who moved in to the house from their original home in Okinomiya. After this, the household became known as a problematic place, always loud by the adult's shouting and constant bullying of the Hōjō twins. Eventually, Teppei started spending less and less time in the house, while Tamae became more aggressive towards the kids, especially Satoko. On the night of the Watanagashi of 1982, Tamae was murdered and a few days later, Satoshi went missing. Shortly after this, Teppei moved away from Hinamizawa to his lover, while Satoko moved to Furude Rika's house near the Furude Shrine. During the story setting of 1983, the building is mostly shown to be unoccupied, occassionally cleaned and maintained by Satoko, so everything would be in order in case his brother returned home. In Tatarigoroshi-hen, Tsukiotoshi-hen, Minagoroshi-hen and Miotsukushi-hen, Teppei's lover dies and he moves back to the house, forcing Satoko to move back with him. During these arcs, the house is often shown to be used by Teppei and his friends for gambling and drinking parties.

In Tatarigoroshi-hen, Teppei moves back with Satoko and bullies her until she reaches her breaking point. During the Watanagashi Festival, Maebara Keiichi lures Teppei out to the nearby forest and murders him. Despite his death after the festival, Satoko claims that her uncle is still alive. A few days later, Keiichi plans to ambush and murder Teppei "for the second time" in his home, but he only finds a delirious Satoko in the hot bath, apparently forced there by her uncle. Enraged, Keiichi starts searching for Teppei, wrecking the rooms of the building with his axe in the process. Unable finding the uncle, he takes Satoko to the Irie Clinic, leaving the ruined house behind.

In Tsukiotoshi-hen, Teppei moves back to Hinamizawa again, taking Satoko with him, just like in Tatarigoroshi-hen. In this arc, Keiichi, supported by Shion, attacks Teppei in the house, knocking him down, but ends up being badly beaten up by Teppei's friends who were having a drinking party there. During the fight, many pieces of furniture are smashed. In the night of the Watanagashi Festival, Keiichi, Shion and Rena lure Teppei out in the forest and murder him, but end up being seen by Satoko. Shion knocks Satoko out with her teaser and takes her back to the house. Later in the story, Satoko and Shion disappears, so Keiichi, Rena and Rika go to the Hōjō house to investigate. Keiichi smashes a window to get in and search for the missing girls, only to find their corpses in one of the rooms. Instead of reporting the corpses, Keiichi and Rena vows revenge against the person who did this and leave the house. A few days later, Rena and Keiichi take Mion's corpse to the house. To prevent the bodies' decomposition, Rena pours cooking oil around the shove, and ignites it, to burn the house down. the maddened Rena then stabs Keiichi in the stomach and leaves him there. Keiichi bleeds to death there as the wooden building is rapidly engulfed in flames.
