Kimiyoshi Kisaku (公由 喜作)) is the heir to the Kimiyoshi family, a prominent business man and member of the Hinamizawa village council, and the husband of Satoko and father of Sakiko in the chapters of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Rei.

Character Summary

As a member of the village council and son of the current mayor, he opposed the acceptance of the Polaris cult against Mion and Akane. He speaks for many villagers who find their refusal to interact or even acknowledge a greeting offensive. Meanwhile, he hopes that Hinamizawa will be recognized as an international cultural site. During the Watanagashi Festivals, he appears to disappear.

Appearance

He wears his hair closely cropped. Flashbacks from Mion's teasing shows that he has not varied his hair since he was a child. He is usually seen in a business suit, but flashbacks reveal him dressed very casually when with his family.

Personality

For much of his appearances thus far, he appears a stern character driven by his ambitions. However, there are glimpses and flashbacks that suggest he relaxes this around his family. There is one where he is dressed very casually as he mans the grill for a gathering of Satoko's friends and their children. He can be tender around his daughter, and Sakiko makes it clear that her mother is devoted to him. She reveals, when he goes missing, that her mother cherished the way he would celebrate her birthday.

Relationships

Hōjō Satoko

Currently, no "back story" has been given on how they met. Mion teases him about how proud he was to attend school in Okinomiya when, if he had attended the Hinamizawa Branch School, he could have met Satoko when she was really young. When They C ry Wiki does not judge. This simply implies that the two met sometime after she reached high school age. Given she turns 48 in 2019, and she had Sakiko in her mid-thirties, this implies the two either held off on having children or met in their thirties. While introduced as stern and serious to drive the conflict necessary for the plot, there are glimpses and flashbacks that indicate he is devoted to her and their daughter.

Kimiyoshi Sakiko

Again, whilst portrayed as serious and stern in the village meetings, the few scenes where he is with his daughter, he appears the devoted father. For her part, Sakiko is devastated when he disappears.

Trivia

  • "Pich 'em Young and Watch 'em Grow!": When They C ry Wiki has no shame, certainly; however, Mion plays on the idea that a young Kisaku would have appreciated a young Satoko. In reality, he is not a character in any of the arcs thus far, which suggests that they met sometime after Satoko bid Rika farewell on her train ride to St. Lucia Academy.
