</PRE></noinclude> Sonozaki Saburō is a member of the prefectural assembly who first appears first in Watanagashi-hen, where he goes to the Okinomiya Police Station to intimidate Ōishi for trying to investigate the Sonozaki family, he is unsuccesful, however, as Ōishi's superiors instruct him to flee.
In Minagoroshi-hen he comes with another uncle of Mion, who is a member of the municipal assembly, to the Child Welfare Office. He has a small but important role in Matsuribayashi-hen. Ōtaka, the police mole for Takano Miyo, tries to intimidate Ōishi by invoking his close relationship with Saburō in order to convince Ōishi to allow him to view the reported body of Rika. Saburō arrives with Akane in time to affirm he has no idea who Ōtaka is. The "joke," as Ōishi appreciates, is Ōtaka becomes indignant over the way Saburō dismisses him, and he demands to know who Saburō is. In the manga, he literally drags Ōtaka away to "discuss" their relationship.
He appears in the third season's Tataridamashi-hen's final chapter to directly help Keiichi during the demonstrations.
