Along the corridor, Ōishi notices Satoko's bloody footprints she created when she left the room and walked to the front door. He enters the room and sees the carnage. He asks, "this is. . . ." and Satoko approaches him from behind and explains that Keiichi did it and claimed that it was the curse. Ōishi quickly demands to know what he meant by "curse": "Did he attack Teppei because he's an enemy of the village?!" She does not answer.png.png. He grabs her by the shoulders and declares that if she is trying to protect Keiichi then she is just as guilty. He then reaches his next and curses how itchy it is. 
Satoko calmly responds that Keiichi came to her during Rika's dance. This startles Ōishi, but he continues to dig at his neck. She looks away and continues that Keiichi grabbed her by her hand and took her away from the shrine. She claims, as the scene focuses on dead Keiichi's face, that she told her that they needed to go to her house and talk. Still scratching and now sweating, Ōishi asks if she means that it was Keiichi who invited himself over to the home where the enemy lives. He quickly concludes that someone must have told him to do it. The scene pans over both Keiichi and Teppei's bodies as Satoko claims he suddenly started screaming that he was her "Nii-Nii," and then grabbed her brother's bat from his room. Excited, Ōishi declares that this is the same brother who went missing due to the curse: Hōjō Satoshi. "It is all connected!"
As he celebrates his revelation, Satoko calmly continues that Keiichi attacked Teppei with the bat, but he grabbed the bat out of Keiichi's hand. The scene shifts to her imagined recreation of the incident. She claims that she tried to stop them. In her imagination, Teppei kicks away Keiichi, who is bleeding from his head. She continues that Teppei was enraged at Keiichi getting the Child Welfare Services involved. However, in her imagination, Keiichi raises the bat again, strikes, and her face is splashed with blood. She claims that nothing she said could get through to her uncle. Meanwhile, Teppei falls to the floor. She claims that Keiichi did not give up, and he kept fighting her uncle as, in her imagination, he falls to his knees then upon Teppei's body, then roles over himself as the sound of kagura suzu bells. With a focus on their bodies, Satoko continues to claim that she could have stopped them if she tried harder. 
Still scratching at his neck, Ōishi interrupts her to demand what else Keiichi said. This surprises Satoko, but Ōishi roughly grabs her by the shoulders and demands to know what he said about the curse. She feigns thought then realization and declares that while he beat her uncle, he kept saying something: "This is Oyashiro-sama 's curse!" Ōishi laughs in satisfaction. He declares that those responsible used Keiichi as their pawn. For her part, Satoko observe with a decidedly bored expression. He continues his declarations that they must have asked him to carry out the curse to prove his loyalty as he paces around the bodies.
With satisfaction, he picks up the bat and declares it the solid and undeniable proof. He calls out to his dead friend that he has finally found the connection between the curse and The Series of Mysterious Deaths. Satoko calmly observes his soliloquy. He ultimately resumes scratching at his neck as he encourages himself figure out who could order such. Non plussed, Satoko sarcastically remarks that she is very happy for him. She then asks him how his neck is feeling. She turns to her and replies that is it very itchy then curses that he was just about to have the answer.png.png. He then repeatedly screams about the itchiness.
"My condolences. You must be entering the final stage," Satoko calmly offers.
Paying no attention to her, Ōishi grabs Keiichi's body by his shirt, pulls him up, and demands that he reveal who gave the order. Picking up on this, Satoko "wonders" who would tell someone to do something like this. She feings a startled realization as she claims Keiichi mentioned names. "No," she continues, "she would never. . . ." 
Ōishi drops Keiichi's body. Under a bit more control, he walks to her and asks what Keiichi said. He kneels on the floor to bring himself to her level. He places his right hand on her left shoulder as he encourages her to remember. She smiles. As the music turns onimous, she replies that Rika told him to do this. Glistening with sweat, an excited Ōishi repeats, "Furude Rika!" She initially watches without emotion as he babbles that Rika is part of the The Three Great Families, and the Furude Shrine would of course carry out the curse, then smiles with satisfaction. Ōishi stands, holding Satoshi's bat, and declares that he has connected all of the pieces and finally has all the proof he needs.
Satoko watches as he rushes out of the room with the bat, runs down the corridor, and leaves her home. Alone, she starts to laugh: "Now, please go and shatter Rika's heart into pieces!" With a view of her eyes blazing, she concludes: "Oyashiro-sama 's dear familiar."
The scene shifts to a number of men under a tent eating, drinking, laughing, and conversing. Shion, Mion, Rika, and Rena stand facing the same direction. Rena notes that it appears that Keiichi and Satoko have not returned yet. Mion closes her eyes and confesses that "uncle" better head home soon as well, or else "Granny" will force her to talk with her relatives. Shion smiles, turns, and tells her sister that she will go with her. Meanwhile, Rika walks from them towards the sound of the adults as Shion explains that she will stay in the guest house.
Two of the men see Rika, still dressed in her miku robes, and greet her. They ask her if anything is wrong, and she asks them if they have seen Tomitake. She suggests that they might have seen him with Takano. The one with white hair replies that he may have seen them near the parking lot. The scene shifts as he replies to Satoshi's bloody bat dragged along the ground. As in the Question Arc, Ōishi approaches with a wide grin and his eyes in shadow. The men and Rika react to him approaching. He replies with a laugh. The scene focuses on his blood-shot left eye as he declares that he has been looking for her: "Furude Rika-SAN!"
With the emphasis on the honorific, he tosses the bat in the air and then grabs her by the throat with his right hand. Men demand to know what he is doing and if he is drunk. Struggling, Rika asks, "why?" Rena, Mion, and Shion appear. Rena shouts Rika's name, and Mion asks what he is doing. Ōishi turns to them and declares that he has solved the mystery. The two men Rika approached rush up to Ōishi and demand that he come to his senses. He responds by shooting the one with dark hair, whose blood sprays on Rika's face. The man with white hair panics and starts to withdraw.
The scene cuts to the face of
Eua as she raises a tea cup to her lips.
She takes a sip, then returns the cup to its saucer on her table. She looks up. A fragment contains the now dead villager. She giggles and declares that she is such delightful entertainment, "child of man."
The scene returns to Mion approaching Ōishi from behind as he scratches at his neck with his right hand. She holds her arms out as she calls to him. She offers to listen to him as the next head of the Sonozaki family, if he will only let go of Rika. He arches his head back, smiles, and asks, "what?!" as he points his gun at her. Rika, now held in the crook of his arm, screams in protest. 
With lightning speed, Shion pushes the gun back. Rika falls to the ground, and Shion's voice is heard telling her sister that this is her chance to get Rika. Her words are stopped by his foot kicking her to the ground as he demands that she not interfere. He points the gun at her. The screen splits to show Rika on the left, and Mion on the right. Mion runs calling her sister's name. Rika, in her Adult Voice, quietly says, "stop."
Satoko makes her towards the scene. She hears a gunshot and smiles. She looks up at the steps towards the shrine and sarcastically declares that it is getting lively.
Mion slows her run. She looks shocked as she protests. With tears in her eyes, Rika begs it to stop. Villagers drag Rena away as she screams Shion and Mion's names. Mion commands Rena to look after Keiichi for her.
Ōishi dramatically shoots her in the head.
Rena screams.
Laughing, Ōishi picks up Rika by her head with his right hand. On the ground next to her lies Shion. He picks her up, dangling her over the ground, and points his gun at her. Off-screen, Rena calls her name and begs Ōishi "don't!" He ignores her pleas, looks at Rika, and demands that she confess and tell him the truth. Rena begs him to take her instead. Rika looks at Shion's body, then Mion's. In her Adult Voice, she asks how this perfect world could end like this. Ōishi places the barrel of his gun against her left temple and asks her what she said. She replies that she said nothing and tells him to end it. Enraged, he starts to repeat her words, but she cuts him off by insisting that she will not reveal the secrets of the curse. She taunts him that he will die knowing nothing. Cursing her, he tosses her to the ground. He picks up the bat and begins to strike her on her head while demanding her to talk. Eventually, Satoko appears behind him smiling. She approaches him, and Rena orders her to stay back. Satoko ignores her, continues approaching, and sarcastically asks if he is still not finished. She then insults his efforts. This stuns Rena. Ōishi also stops and reacts with a "what?" As she stands in front of him, he declares that he now understands: she was the one behind it all. 
] "Yes, that's correct." She then promptly draws her gun and shoots him in the forehead.
In slow motion, he falls backward as Rena reacts. He hits the ground and dust rises about Satoko's ankles. She walks forward, looks down, and asks, "Rika, Are you quite dead?" Rika's eyes are open. Satoko crouches down and explain that if she is still alive she cannot travel to the next fragment with her. She continues that there is one way to ensure that Rika is dead. She places the barrel of her gun on Rika's forehead. Scene shifts to focus on Satoko's face as the shot illuminates her. With a satisfied smile, she declares that she now knows Rika is dead.
Holding her face, Rena whimpers, "S-Satoko-chan?" She falls to her knees crying. Satoko turns to look at her. She stands, looks back down at Rika as she places her gun to her right temple, then declares, "I won't let you escape just yet, Rika." The scene then focuses on Rika's face as Satoko continues, "until you accept your happy future with me in Hinamizawa." Rena hold her head. Tears stream from her mad eyes. Satoko continues, "I will never, ever, let you escape. That's for certain."
Her hand raises and she snaps her fingers as the scene fades to black.
A shot rings out. 
The scene resolves on Eua's smiling face. She breaks into continuous laughter. When she gathers herself, she turns to look to her left as she asks, "whatever will you do about this?" The scene reveals that she is staring at a fragment in which Hanyū prays with her eyes closed. She continues to ask: "Whatever can you do when you cannot even view the fragments, O Pitiful Failure?" The scene focuses on Hanyu's eyes. Tears well up between her closed eyelids. She opens her eyes as the scene fades to white and the end titles commence.
