It is revealed in Watanagashi-hen that he has a crush on Satoko, and he often stays after school, hoping to see her in a cosplay punishment during Club activities. He and Okamura both play baseball for the Hinamizawa Fighters.

Tomita has brown hair and green eyes.

His appearance is somewhat different in the Higurashi media, but he is always shown to be thin and wear glasses.
